John Lindo* – Head Judge
After beginning in country-western dance in 1992, John Lindo quickly made his mark on the West Coast Swing circuit by garnering an astonishing number of awards and championships in Jack-and-Jills and Strictly Swings. Some of his First Place awards include the U.S. Open, Grand Nationals, Phoenix Champion of Champions. He is also sought after internationally for his experience and teaching, having travelled to five countries in the past year alone. John currently resides in New Jersey, and is an influential presence in the New York City West Coast Swing scene. www.johnlindo.com
Glenn Ball* – MC
Glenn Ball is newer to the West Coast Swing circuit but is a veteran dancer, choreographer, and performer with a diverse background. Prior to WCS, Glenn enjoyed a lengthy career in the “backing dancer” world. He has danced and appeared in campaigns for pop-industry giants such as Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, Lionel Richie, Take That, Jennifer Lopez, Scissor Sisters, Ne-yo, Taylor Swift and many more. In WCS, Glenn has consistently placed/won in Jack & Jill and Strictly Swing divisions at competitions such as Swing Diego and the US Open Swing Dance Championships. Markus Smith* & Trendlyon Veal*
From Maryland! Markus is an accomplished and award winning dance competitor, choreographer and instructor. He has been featured on Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance”, BET’s “106 and Park” program, and the movie Love N’ Dancing. He was a co-host of DC DANCING TEENS, a youth hand dance show that has been seen on Globaldancetv and shown on DCTV channel 95 in Washington DC. Trendlyon is a dance instructor, choreographer, and competitor with over seven years of competition and teaching experience. Most rece has placed first in a number of Jack and Jill, Pro Am and Strictly Swing competitions. Markus and Trendlyon are both Tri State Connection Champions. Together they travel across the United States and internationally teaching, competing, judging, and performing at National Swing Dance events, in addition to volunteer and community outreach. Deborah Székely (pronounced “say kay”) started dancing at 3 years old. At 10 she performed at the famous Harvest Moon Ball with her junior company dance troupe, and 16 she competed on Star Search with Tyce Diorio from SYTYCD. Formally trained in ballet, tap, and jazz, she decided to commit her life to dance after completing a year of medical school. Her dance career began in New York City, and in 1995 she was introduced to West Coast Swing, and two years later she began competing with three-time U.S. Open Swing Champion, Robert Cordoba. During their 15-year partnership, they accumulated four U.S. Open titles together and won NASDE four years in a row. She also has 8 Grand National Titles and has been inducted into both the Dallas Dance and California Swing Dance Halls of Fame. In 2014 she was inducted into the National Living Legends of Dance. Today, she is the top Female traveling to teach WCS around the world, and is a consistent top-five competitor in Champion Jack & Jill and Strictly Swing competitions.
Hugo Miguez* & Stacy Kay*
Hugo Miguez and Stacy Kay are renowned worldwide for their precision, variety, and teaching methods within West Coast Swing. Since 2011, they have taken the circuit by storm with their Classic Routines and are re-defining the learning process of the dance world. They will lead you through energetic routines and social dances while sharing their advice on all things dance. They reside in sunny Clearwater, Florida where they host weekly classes in addition to traveling internationally as competitors, judges, and choreographers. Both continue to share their passion for dance and enjoy working with all levels to continue the growth of the dance community. They work with top professionals in many different dance styles distinctly furthering their own education and pedagogy. Doug has an extensive background in musical theater, having held the positions of Actor, Director, Choreographer, Conductor and Producer for many productions. This background comes out in full force in Doug’s contributions to the West Coast Swing world, in which he is the creator and director of much-loved events and competitions – including the new Swing 16 tournament tour, offered at UDC in 2016. Initially a musician, Doug’s formal training in dance began when he stumbled upon West Coast Swing in 2001. Since then he has won numerous titles across the country, including US Open Champion. Todd Coulthard & Maria Ford*
Todd and Maria dance, teach, and compete together in West Coast Swing. Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, they have been instrumental in the WCS community’s development there. Both Todd and Maria have always had dance as part of their lives since childhood, and have discovered a shared love of partner dance through West Coast Swing. Maria has taught West Coast Swing since 2005 and operated Smoothstyle Dance since 2006. She has competed at the WSDC All-Star Level since 2014. Todd is an Advanced-level competitor. He joined the Smoothstyle team in 2014 and together they teach, judge, and DJ locally and in other cities. www.smoothstyle.ca
Philippe* & Flore Berne*
Philippe comes from the competition world and Flore from the world of social dancing (Boogie-Woogie, Swing, Salsa, West Coast Swing,…) – this diversity adds flow and uniqueness to their dance style. They have appeared on stage with Charly Moser’s dance Company (Feeling Dance Show), and in numerous TV and live appearances. Originally from France, they settled in Montreal, Canada in 2013 and began to focus on West Coast Swing. Today, they are emerging West Coast Swing Showcase champions. In 2017, they placed top 4 at the US Open and top 5 at the US Open 2016 They have placed top 4 at many NASDE events since they started competing in the showcase division in 2014, and are also the 2016 and 2017 Canadian Champions! www.philandflore.com
